I had no surprised look on my face. I shrugged. "You're like my friend erik, he was stuck in time for over... seventy years... wow," I said and looked at her in the eyes. She did have an old face.. she did all that stuff way back then. Huh. Just weird.

I didn't like telling people about my past, they didn't treat me the same once I knew, they acted like I was some old fart, but I'm still sixteen, I only aged a year in the casino, people judged me when I told them I was from the old South and who were they to judge me.

I smiled at her. I was pretty timid, so all I did unless the girl wanted to do more, was held hands. I squeezed her hand a little.

I wasn't really sure what to do, I didn't really understand the modern ways of courting or as they called it now, dating. I had a lot to learn and I hated learning it just wasn't my thing I guess back in my time women didn't have to learn, it was nice back then, everyone knew their jobs and they never got out of place

"Uh, see... I'm hopeless to this stuff... what am I supposed to do now?" I hust came flat out, and said it. I don't like to play games, I like to take things head on. It was just my style. When I was in the war that summer, I always hid my powers and I always used them when I most needed them. I remember when it was so smoky from a grenade, that I used my teleportation power to teleport behind everyone and shoot them or slice their throats.It was gruesome and I always led the charge.

"So how about we do it your way? Taking it back to the 1800's," I said, smiling at her. I was willing to trry new things, when I was in the war I integrated myself into a Zulu tribe. Very fierce warriors, taught me how to control my ice powers. They were amazing people. I remember having a love interest with one of them.. she gave a necklace with a Tiger's tooth on it and said,
"Chase, with this, you will always have the heart of Africa with you, wherever you go," She said and kissed me. Those were the good days. Then I was found by the american military and took me back here. I took my necklace and started to rub it with two fingers.

" I'd rather not... " I say, a little uncomfortable. I finger my ring, which had been an engagement gift from Ashley, life was so unfair, why did my parents have to put me in that stupid casino, I'd rather have gotten married and died with the confederacy then be where I am now.

"Then let me think.. how about we go on a date, Zulu style?" I asked her, smiling. I knew how that was done, I remember I was good at it. I remembered, I had to meet her father, can't do that. I had to anoint myself worthy of her, I can do that. Then I would courteiously bow to her. Then we would do whatever we wanted.

I wondered about his first love, I knew it wasn't nice to read people's mind but I couldn't help it, it just happened, it didn't really bother me, I was definetly used to the whole dating program, you date and then you break up, you date and then you break up, thats why my time was so much better, you date for awhile and then you get engaged, thats how it had worked with me and Ashley " Why does it matter " I say coldly

"Everything about you matters to me, that's why it matters," I say just as coldly. She did read my mind. Rrgh. I don't go for that kinda stuff. It was just not my thing, I know I shouldn't read her mind but, it just happens to me, when there is somethin important to be known I can read minds, if not then I don't. I look around, it was a nice day. It reminded me of my first day with Asai, my first love.

"Oh," I said and rubbed my necklace. I never was engaged, i was going to pop the question when they took me away from my love, Asai. I had a ring ready to go, I had her father's blessing. I had everything, then the Americans came in. I was so angry. I wanted to blow up the helicopter I was in, they assured me that it was just delusion that I was in love. No it damn well wasn't. I realized I was frowning with my teeth about to be bared. I stopped myself and tried to smile, but couldn't.

I knew that he had been really in love and I felt really uncomfortable. I felt like I didn't belong here, I debated whether I should just quickly run back to my cabin.

I read her thoughts. Then I quickly bolted in front of her. I shook my finger at her. "Uh-uh-uh, no suicide!" I said to her. I was probably going to regret this, but if it keeps her from killing herslef, well, here goes nothing. I kissed her, a full on kiss then broke away.
"How about you come on my quest with me?" I asked, almost wincing, thinking how this could backfire on me. I was originally going to go alone, was going to absorb the power from the byfrost generators by myself and get the power I needed to defeat the Beast, but I guess I'm not going alone anymore huh?
