I was walking around the lake for no apparent reason. It was a reasonably nice day out, but not many people were outside. Dranzer, my Phoenix, was perched on my shoulder. He was pretty much the only one here besides me. Looking at my pet, I muttered quietly, "I wonder if this day could, at all, get interesting."

I walked to the lake, I had my staff and my phoenix, Stenós for short, say quietly on the tip of my staff. "Such a good girl." I cooed at her. I lifted my staff, she flew into the sky. I threw up a treat for her and she dived down and ate it, then returned to the top of my staff. I saw a boy walking with his phoenix. I felt my belt loop, making sure my dagger was there. Just in case this kid was trouble.

I heard noise ahead of me, and instantly my left hand reached down to my katana's handle. But then I noticed she was a girl. . . With blue hair. Huh, this day just got a whole lot more interesting than it just was five seconds ago. Walking over to her, I noticed she had a Phoenix too. "Hey," I greeted, smiling. "Nice Bird you got there." Dranzer, who was still on my shoulder, seemed to be eyeing the other Phoenix.

"Hello..." I greeted quietly. I wasn't good around people. Especially boys. Stenós looked at the boys phoenix. "They seem like they won't kill each other." I said with a slight giggle. "Her name is Stenós Filos, Stenós for short. It means sidekick in Greek." I told the boy. She stood completely still on my staff. I stroked the top of her head. She lifted her head up to my hand. I smiled. "She's the only family I have."

I chuckled. I hope they wouldn't kill each other. "Well, that's a cool name," I said. I shrugged my shoulder up and Dranzer hopped to my wrist. "This is Dranzer." When she said that Stenós was her only family I gave her small smile. I knew how she felt. "Other than my old teacher, I know what you mean by having a phoenix as your only family," I said stroking Dranzer's wing.

"Hm." I said looking at the boy. "Leda. Sorceress. You?" I asked him while Stenós stood up and flew away. She was probably hungry. I held my staff with both of my hands, and held it vertically across my legs. "Black Magic, if you were wondering." I told him, while standing up straight and adjusting my little hat. I chuckled to myself. I never took that hat off.

Dranzer turned to Leda but turned back to me and cocked his head. I shrugged a little bit at him before he suddenly took off. He was probably gonna go to his tree in the forest. Turning to Leda I said, "I'm Kai, Sorcerer of Fire." Looking at her hat, I smiled. She was pretty cute. "I like your hat, it matches your hair."

I shyly smiled at him. "Thanks. Believe it or not, this is my natural hair colour." I said with a small giggle. "I don't know how though, it just is." I said walking to a log next to the lake and sat on it. "How old are you, Kai?" I asked. He looked older than me, but I wanted to make sure. I didn't want to hit on a 16 year old or something. That would be creepy and I am not a creeper.

Natural blue hair? Now that's just plain awesome. I walked over to the log and sat next to her. "I'm seventeen," I said to her. I looked at Leda and stared at her for a minute. "What about you?" I asked, finally breaking my gaze. This day sure is a whole lot more interesting when I was talking with someone.

"I'm seventeen too." I said with a small smile. I looked at him with a smile. I made a misty ball of dark magic in my right hand. I tossed it up a few times, then tossed it into the lake. The lake turned pitch black for a second, then turned normal. "Oops..." I muttered quietly.

I was watching as the lake turned pitch black for a quick second. Huh, impressive. "Nice trick," I said. I smiled at her and let a small flame dance on my palm. The flame, if you looked closely, was in the shape of a phoenix. Dranzer, to be more specific. Letting the flame die down, I turned to Leda. "Hmm. . . For how long have you known you were a sorceress, Leda?" I asked curiously.

"Thanks!" I said with a perky smile. I looked at him and said "Since I was eleven. It reminded me of Harry Potter, if you want me to be specific." I said with a small laugh. I looked out to the lake. The sun was setting. I smiled at the sky. "How long have you known?" I asked, looking at him.

I thought for a minute. When did I learn I was a wizard? Oh yeah. "When I was ten," I said remembering that day clearly. Looking at the sky, I sighed. "Beautiful," I muttered absentmindedly. It was really nice to see a sunset. To be honest, I haven't seen one in. . . who-knows-how-long.
